So….how are you with big changes? Do you get emotional and stressed? Excited? A combination? I think I do the combo thing.
Like most folks, I’ve encountered big changes in my life and I’m now experiencing another one. This one is a job change – honestly, I’m more excited than scared! I’ve worked non-profit for…21 years (more or less). When I worked medical, the hospital was a public non-profit. I moved on to a religious organization, also non-profit. From there I worked in Economic Development for 6 1/2 years and Workforce Development for just over 5 1/2 years.
Starting in a little over a week, I’ll be working for a large, private corporation (based in Montreal) in Everett….about 15 minutes from our house! Everyone I met there so far is absolutely fantastic! I’m super excited for the challenge and opportunity…and yep, also a little scared. Any time you walk into the unknown or unfamiliar, I thing that’s a pretty normal response.
Luckily for me, the overwhelming response from my current co-workers and outside folks we work with, has been so supportive – I know my last day will be bittersweet but for me? More sweet than bitter. I won’t have the commute (90 minutes each way), and the potential for growth and learning is exponential. I am GRATEFUL!!
My hubby is thrilled I’ll be closer to home too. One of my hopes is to smooth out the whole “work-life balance” thing.
My stress is minimal right now – excitement is taking over! Don’t fear the “big scary thing” like change. Embrace it and make it yours. Whatever change you face, remember, YOU GOT THIS!!
Congratulations!
Thank you!!
So awesome!
Congratulations, Cathy!
Good luck with your new position, and enjoy that shorter commute!
lol, thanks Troy!! I’m REALLY looking forward to that shorter commute for sure.
It is a new ADVENTURE. Embrace it. I know you will be just fine. You always are.
Glad you are much closer to home. A lot less travel time. That alone will reduce some stress.
I am so glad for you.
Thanks mom!
So proud of you! They are lucky to have you. This will be an amazing, wonderful journey!
