Dream Life

When you think of your “Dream Life”, what do you see? What steps do you take to create it and move forward from your current every day life? For us, we see our “dream life” as living somewhere away from the fast-paced, over-crowded cities. Somewhere where life is enjoyed and experienced. Chris has been reading the “Happier than a Billionaire” series by Nadine Hays Pisani. She and her husband decided to pick up and move to Costa Rica, and from what I understand, have never looked back (I’ve just started the series myself, so hope to have more to say on it later). Plus, we are headed to Costa Rica in 2019 – CAN’T WAIT!!

“Dream Life” means something different to everyone. Chris is always sending me links to articles on living abroad and houses/condos for sale in places like Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Costa Rica, Panama, etc.… (you get the idea). At first, I’d laugh (and sometimes get annoyed) because the reality is, we can’t do it right now. THEN, I figured out, this is where he gets his inspirations for our Dream Life. Now, I too look at pictures and read articles on living in these places. It’s kind of addicting – daydreaming and reading about it.

When we travel, Latin American countries seem to be our favorites (so far). A couple of our favorites so far: Puerto Rico and Cancun. Puerto Rico, where Iguanas are everywhere…. until you want to take a picture of one then the little jerks run and hide. Puerto Rico where driving down a highway on the way to Ponce and we see a horse (not a pony but a full-grown horse) in the bed of a pick-up truck (Yeah, visualize that one). Then, snorkeling off Culebra, a small island just off the coast of Puerto Rico, in a protected marine reserve where I was just a few feet away from a barracuda (I thought this was SO cool!!). In Cancun, we stayed at Club Med, where we snorkeled, ate very well, watched sunsets, and walked – a lot. We signed up for a day trip with Edventures that included a trip to Tulum to tour the ancient Mayan ruins which were simply stunning; zip-lining (yes, I KNOW I’m afraid of heights); and snorkeling in a Cenotes (underground cave) where the water was incredibly clear (and we saw bats in the ceilings!). We also swam and snorkeled in a brackish lagoon where we saw an incredible amount of colorful fish.

Chris and I feel better in places like the above. Mentally, physically, emotionally – the works. It’s amazing – from almost the second our plane lands at our given destination, we both just feel…healthy. Alive. Energized. Happy. These feelings are what Chris and I need (not just want) in our lives (and frankly, we ALL need to feel that way). For most of us, these are not goals achieved overnight. So, we save, pay off bills, and invest to hopefully create our Dream Life soon.

What gives your life energy, health, happiness and that “alive” feeling? What’s your Dream Life?

Dream life is awake and welll in my soul too. I believe our dreams are attainable with what you mentioned. Planning and saving for the shift to manifest. My 10 day visit to Port of Vaharta MX.still lingers after so many years. I love the area, the locals and best dinner was in the heart of old town in a cement building that you had to follow the outdoor creek that ran through town. This creek was their water source for everything. Inside my travel partner and I found a woman standing over a fire heated flat cooking bar. She looked to be an age that she knew more than I. My senior by maybe 40 years and slightly taller than the fire stoked bar. The grandmother that exceeded all our cultural idea about finding the real deal…She was!! The real deal. She waved us in and pointed us to to sit. 4 wooden tables and eclectic array of chairs. A dark room with only daylight too see. We faced an open window with the Pacific waters in front of us. As we looked for a wall menu a young woman approached with two Coca-Cola. “Si ?” she said. We nodded and repeated ” Si” she put 2 cokes on the table with no menues. She returned quickly with only this reply ” uno? dos? trace? ” We had no idea what was what. Sean and I spoke very little Spanish so we both replied ” Dos!” our order was placed. We turned and watched the magic unfold. The elder prepared over the fire bar As we tried to see ingredients. We kept open to receive what could be the best dinner we ever had. 20 minutes later and starving, we got our food. White fish empanadas with a side of rice. It was divine! Sean ordered 2 more. Not only was the experience wonderful and intriguing but the lasting glance of a woman that cooks like a goddess! Sean and I will never forget that meal in the heart of the port.

Oh Annie, what an amazing experience! I LOVE that it stuck with you. THAT is at the heart of what I am trying to get across. Go off the beaten path. Communicate (however you can) and learn. Love and patience and you were rewarded!! xoxo

Depends on your definition. Maybe his definition is different. 🙂

It ALL sounds dreamy. Just one thing. Get a place big enough so if we ever get to visit we have someplace to stay. Looking forward to it.
My main dream is for my children to be able to be healthy, happy and comfortable wherever they are. That is all I wish for.
