Everyone seems to use those three little words (no, not I Love You although they should be used more often): Live, Laugh, Love. But what do they mean? Most everyone has their own definition of each, but when you put all three together, you have life. No, I don’t mean the meaning of life, but what life should be. And for those blessed folks, it is their every day existence.
Laughter and love are a part of my daily life. It was even part of our wedding vows. Chris and I both promised to make laughter common place in our lives. Hell, laughing at ourselves and each other is how we manage stress. As I sit on our deck in the dense smoke from all the wildfires, for some reason, I’m reminded of so many wonderful funny moments.
Chris and I “met” on Facebook (FB) through mutual friends. The last name Wacker is what stood out to me. I grew up with Tina and Brant Wacker so, Chris had to be related. Little did I know, he is their older brother. He graduated high school the spring before Tina and I started there our freshman year. Crazy that I had no idea she had an older brother (other than Brant)! I had even been to their home as a child when Tina and I were in Campfire Girls together. At some point after Chris and I met on FB, Tina suggested to Chris that he should date me. Quite the endorsement from someone I hadn’t seen or spoken to in 20-some odd years!
When we finally met in person, it was epic. March 16, 2012 I went to Bad Albert’s in Ballard to meet up with friends, and listen to the band GFY (Good for You). I spotted Chris across the crowded room so I made my way over to him to say hi and we started chatting. All of a sudden, this guy comes up, puts his arm on Chris’s shoulders and with a mischievous look, asks what my intentions are with his friend. WHAT??? Yeah, I panicked. I lied and said I was seeing someone. What was I thinking?? I’m not a liar by nature. Luckily, it didn’t stop our chatting on FB and I soon ‘fessed up to my lie. Even better, Chris didn’t hesitate, and the next day he asked me for a date.
April 28, 2012 Chris picked me up for our first date and took me to the Skagit County Tulip Festival. As a local, I had always wanted to go, but never went. I knew it was a good thing we had, and it was proven very quickly. Right in the middle of our first date, he asked for another. Of course, I said yes! Almost exactly two years later, April 26, 2014, we married. Our first six years together have been an amazing adventure, and I’m looking forward to the rest of our lives together with more Adventures to come!
This is just a part of my Live, Laugh, Love. What’s yours?
