Stress and Laughter

Have you ever been so stressed out that the most ridiculous little thing makes you start to laugh until you cry (damnyouautocorrect.com get’s me every time)? Happens to the best of us.

Stress is a funny (ok annoying) part of life. No one is 100% stress-free…I wish. There are so many ways to tackle stress; almost as many ways as there are people on the planet.

For me, “managing” stress comes in different forms – food, sleep, music, writing, watching a movie, going for a walk, etc…you get the idea. It really depends on the day, the type of stress and my over-all mood. My usual semi-permanent stress reliever though? Chris. Whether or not he’s trying to, he always makes me laugh. Once I’m home with Chris and the dogs, my daily stress just disappears. It’s MAGICAL!

There are days when I’m just “done”. Mentally and emotionally. When I get that way, sleep seems like the only option. Usually when that happens, it’s external stressors. Recently, I found out a friends ex-husband and father of her children, passed away. Three days later, a friends dad passed, another’s daughter passed and another friends husband. All within a week of each other. Stress and a feeling of helplessness kicked in. Helpless in that I know – no words or deeds can make any of these folks feel better or lighten their load.

My hope is that my friends and family know that I’m here if they need a shoulder.

How do you handle stress?
